from Frank H. in CA - December 1, 2008 Two questions, how long is the average trailer? My quote came back with a recommendation for a 30' trailer and I was trying to determine if that would most likely be an entire trailer. Second question is regarding lawn equipment like lawnmowers and gas powered edgers. Can they be shipped with fuel? Thanks Frank,
Most of our moving vans are 53ft long. You would have 30' of space on that truck (each customer gets a private compartment). Lawn equipment would need to have the gas drained prior to shipping.
Movex Read More Questions from Kristen R. in VT - December 1, 2008 What is the smallest truck that you have available? A 53 foot truck will not fit down our driveway. Kristen,
We do have some 28ft straight trucks that are available. There is very limited availability for these so make sure that you make your reservations well in advance so that our loadplanners can accommodate you.
Movex Read More Questions from Stephanie W. in SC - December 1, 2008 do you offer any size smaller? I would only have about 10 medium size boxes to move and i am on a tight budget. Stephanie,
We can handle shipments as small as 6ft of space on the truck. That would still be overkill for a shipment this small. I would suggest the UPS store. They have freight options for your shipment that will be much cheaper.
Movex Read More Questions from Pete K. in UT - November 17, 2008 When moving onto an Air Force base with Movex, does the base allow the truck onto the installation, or do we have to clear it with the TMO before it shows up? Pete,
TMO will need to give the moving trucks clearance prior to them being allowed on base. They will issue a pass and parking permit for the rig. The driver will meet you at the base gates and you will need to personally escort the vehicle to your home.
Movex Read More Questions from madeline M. in NY - November 17, 2008 How do you keep your rates so much lower than the competitions? Madeline,
Sounds like we need to raise our rates if that is your question! LOL. Really though, Movex is very competitive in a number of areas that we call our "zones". These are areas where a lot of our customers move and we have trucks on a weekly basis. Each truck holds several Movex shipments, so you are sharing the cost of the cross-country relocation with the others on board. I should also take the time here to remind you that each customer gets a private compartment on those moving trucks. Your stuff is never mixed with somebody else's.
So, if you are in one of our zones, you will get the best service at the best possible price. We might not be as inexpensive in all areas, but, in this lean economy, Movex's commitment is to be as competitive as possible.
Movex Read More Questions from Elka H. in FL - November 11, 2008 my daughter is moving from San Diego to St. Pete, FL, do you provide assistance with unloading or is it up to us to unload? Also, how much would it cost if she were to transport her car as well. She has a VW passat. Her personal would fit into your smallest unit if she doesn't sell everything. However, how much would the car cost and is she able to put boxes in that bin with the car? Thank you. Elka,
It would be up to you to arrange loading and unloading. Most of our customers do it themselves. Your request for pricing has been forwarded to one of our relocation specialists who will email you shortly with some answers.
Movex Read More Questions from Greg N. in AL - November 11, 2008 how much space will we need to move a 4 bed room house of about 2300 sq.ft. Greg,
We can give you some very broad answers to that question as the size if the home does not have as much to do with it as the amount of stuff that you have in that home. Our broad recommendation for that size move would be 22ft of space on our moving truck.
Movex Read More Questions from tom V. in PA - November 11, 2008 I live on a small street in south philadelphia pa 19145 how large is the truck? Tom,
The moving trucks are quite large (full-sized tractor-trailers). South Philly can be quite a challenge for access. If we cannot get the truck in front of your home, you may need to shuttle your goods to the closest safe parking place.
Movex Read More Questions from Brandon Q. in VA - November 9, 2008 what exactly is on a weight ticket. Do they record how many axles are being weighed Brandon,
Movex provides FREE weight tickets for all military DITY moves. The weight ticket has the empty weight of the moving truck and the weight of the moving truck with all of your stuff on it. The military will take the difference an reimburse you for the cost that they would have spent to do a full-service move for you. This is a great program to use for a Movex move as the amount of money that they give you is generally much higher than what we charge... So you can actually make money when doing a military move with Movex!
Call 800-876-6839 and ask for Stuart at xt. 3212 with questions about this program.
Movex Read More Questions from Glenn S. in CA - November 3, 2008 what is the maximum i will be charged? do you add on costs for extra weight? wjat is the maximun weight i can load on a 53' trailer? Glenn,
We allow up to 28,000# to be loaded onto the moving truck. If you are loading household goods, there is no way that you could exceed that maximum weight. If you have something other than household furniture, etc to move, and are concerned that you will exceed the 28,000# maximum, you will need to speak to one of our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839 to get overweight pricing.
